Family Spotlight: Hema and Vinod

This month, we are delighted to feature Hema and Vinod, along with their three children—Hari who is 14 and twin daughters Medha and Vidya both twelve. Their journey with WeEMBRACE began in 2019 when Hema first connected with Meena while exploring a move to California. Even before relocating, Hema stayed engaged through online meetings and social media, and once the Rancho Cordova center opened, the family became active participants.

The Vinods quickly embraced the community. Vidya enjoys arts and crafts, AAC, and drum lessons at WeHaven. Medha participates in the Buddy Match program, and Hari recently began volunteering. As a family, they especially enjoy the Inclusive Walk, Diwali and Christmas celebrations, and parent gatherings that provide connection and support. A highlight for them was the 2024 Inclusive Walk, where the cheering, music, and spirit of inclusion made a lasting impact.

Through their time with WeEMBRACE, the Vinods have learned the importance of acceptance and the value of celebrating every small win. They also appreciate the focus on self-care and the friendships that now feel like family. For them, WeEMBRACE is not just an organization but a trusted support system.

Hema and Vinod extend gratitude to Vidya’s siblings, Hari and Medha, for their cheerful and supportive roles in helping not only their sister but others in the community. The Vinod family’s story is a wonderful reminder of the strength of embracing community.
