VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES JUNE THROUGH DECEMBER 2025
Family Spotlight of the month: Vivian Cheung and Dominique Cadiz
This month, we are happy to recognize Vivian Cheung as our Family of the Month. Vivian is a mother of two daughters and a grandmother to two young grandchildren, one who is four years old and another just five months old. She first found WeEMBRACE while searching for a weekend social group for her daughter and has since become a consistent and valued part of our community.
Vivian has volunteered at several WeEMBRACE events. She has helped at the water station during Sports Day, greeted families at the registration table during the Christmas party, and participated in the dance group for the WeEMBRACE Stars talent show. No matter the role, Vivian shows up with a calm and positive energy that many in the community have come to appreciate.
When asked about her experience, Vivian shared that being involved with WeEMBRACE has helped her grow more patient with her special needs daughter. It has also reminded her that she is not alone. She often finds comfort in seeing other moms with their children, especially those who are facing similar challenges. Over time, she says she has built more confidence in how she interacts with others and feels proud to be part of a supportive group.
Vivian balances her family responsibilities and her volunteer work with a steady mindset. She believes that having a positive outlook, being patient, and staying close to kind people helps her manage her time and energy. She encourages others to consider volunteering too, saying that even small efforts can be meaningful when shared with the right community.
We are grateful to have Vivian as part of WeEMBRACE and look forward to seeing her continue to bring her kindness and dedication to future events.
Volunteer of the Month: Suki Iyer
Suki Iyer is a graduating senior at Mira Loma High School and has been involved with WeEMBRACE since the third grade. Over the years, she has grown into a dedicated and compassionate volunteer who brings creativity, warmth, and leadership to every program she joins.
Suki first decided to get involved after seeing the strong and supportive community built through WeEMBRACE. Inspired by how happy it made individuals with different abilities, she wanted to contribute and be a part of something meaningful.
She has participated in many events, including Danceathons, Talent Shows, and 5K Walks. Of these, the Talent Shows stand out as her favorite because of how they celebrate each participant’s unique passions and skills.
Suki has also taught multiple arts and crafts classes and taken part in the buddy match program. These experiences have been especially memorable to her. She has enjoyed seeing her students grow and succeed and takes pride in the way others have appreciated their work.
Volunteering with WeEMBRACE has helped shape who Suki is today. She believes it has made her more open-minded, patient, and understanding. She enjoys every event she attends, not only because of the activities but also because of the lasting friendships she has built within the community.
As a teacher, she learned how different each student is in how they learn and what level they are at. Although this was a challenge at first, she has grown in her ability to adapt her teaching style to suit each student’s strengths.
Even with the demands of school and other responsibilities, Suki continues to stay involved in events and teaching sessions. She encourages others to explore different roles in volunteering so they can find what they enjoy and share it with others.
In addition to her volunteer work, Suki has a love for the arts. She enjoys painting and drawing, and she also practices Indian classical dance and music, which are both important parts of her life.
We are grateful to have had Suki as a part of our community for so many years. Her dedication and spirit have supported many, and we are excited to see all that she accomplishes in the future.
